【How to get more followers on Instagram!?】Photography techniques, cute editing app, and more ways to increase your followers!

Hello, everyone ☺

This is Rikako, I recently joined [ShouShouMe] as a new member★ I hope to share lots of new and trendy things with you all(^^♪

I’ve been an Instagrammer for over 6 years now and I’ll be sharing some of my tips to perfect your Instagram!!

【You can read this article in 10min.↓】

How to take Instagram worthy pictures!

First, I’ll be sharing some tips on how to take Instagram worthy pictures.

※ I personally use iPhone camera most of the time, so no need to worry even if you don’t have a camera!

I recommend taking portrait of the side, back, and try looking a little away from the camera for candid shots!

I’m personally not very confident about myself, so I don’t like looking directly into the camera, instead I just go for the natural looking photos(*^^*)

It’s good to not always place the subject right in the middle.

This is one of the photography technique called the rule of thirds!

The way you take photos using rule of thirds is very easy, just imagine there are two vertical lines and two horizontal lines overlapping and you place the subject at a point where the two lines cross over each other.

Not placing the subject in the middle creates good balance and allows focus not just on the subject but the image as a whole.

Food & Drink

Food and drink photos are much better when there is sense of “people”.

What I mean by this is to create more lively feeling and not just capturing the food itself.

It’s quite common to have part of your hand appear in photos with food, so make sure your nails are done(^_-)-☆

Try to find interesting background especially when taking photos of drink!

Cute wallpaper

Front of the store

Inside the store

A simple background is okay too, but the photos look a lot better for example, with an interesting background, where the name of the store is noticeable, or that shows a little bit of the store’s atmosphere.

It always looks good to take photos of dishes from above the table ♪

※ Make sure there is nothing on the table that is unnecessary.

“How to take photos” are the basic in photography, so just a slight change in your techniques can create photos that are so much better!(^^)!

Instagram is all about editing!

Next, I’m going to introduce photo editing app called “VSCO”!

“VSCO” is a very popular photo editing app by many Instagrammers♥

It has 10 different amazing filters and other editing tools for free!

I’ll be sharing my top 3 favorite filters (^.^)/~~~

(Comparison of images before and after editing↓)

C1 is my favorite filter! I recommend this filter especially for sky or ocean view!!

My favorite is this sunset picture!

Photos with light is emphasized, it creates great contrast and becomes a very dynamic photo★

Definitely go for the C1 effect for sunset pictures(*’ω’*)

This filter is also perfect for photos of food, because it makes it very bright and clear, the food looks delicious!

(↑Photos of food shown in “How to take Instagram worthy pictures” are also edited with C1 filter↑)

Retro like P5 filter has blueish effect that looks like film photos and it’s super cute ♡

The blueish effect makes the pink building look so much cuter!

Night views look amazing by the contrast created by having darker effect to emphasize the lights(‘ω’)ノ

M5 filter has vintage looking effect, I personally quite like this one.

I like to apply it when I want to make more stylish look!

Vintage is a trend in fashion too, so I sometimes use it for pictures of some small items that could actually look vintage!

Find your own ways to edit photos as all filters can be adjusted in strength★

I personally stick to [C1] filter for my Instagram feed, but it’s always good to play around with different types of filters and find your favorite one!

How to perfect your Instagram feed?!

Instagramming doesn’t just end with editing photos, but it is also important to think about how to post photos and how your feed will look like!

So here is an app I want to introduce to you(‘ω’)ノ

Design your Instagram with [UNUM] for perfect feed!

This app can link to your own Instagram account, so photos posted from the past are automatically transferred here.

You can plan out what photos should come next and after that on a grid that looks just like your Instagram feed!

It allows you to look at how your feed will turn out as a whole and check the details of color and everything to see how one photo will look like next to another photo.

Try to avoid having too many of the same kind of photos, throw in some portraits, food and drink photos here and there★

Most functions are free so definitely go try them out!

There are other functions in this app such as:

  • LAST 12 POSTS – It shows you numbers by making a graph about your last 12 posts based on your “likes” and “comments”.
  • TOP POSTS (week/month/all time) – It tells you your top 10 posts by week, month, and all time according to your “likes” and “comments”.
  • BEST TIMES – You can find out about which day and what time is best for you to post by looking at your average “likes” and “comments”.
  • BEST HASHTAGS – You can see which hashtag you have used before had more “likes” and “comments”.

See, it gives you so much information!

Download [UNUM] to perfect your feed!(^^)!

Hope you enjoyed my tips to perfect your Instagram and get more followers!
